How does my course work?
Your course is taken by email and sometimes with online or DVD/CD component(s). You get your first email course, or an email with the password and user ID for the course site. Once you return your exam(s) you get additional courses, exams, network listings, other benefits, along with your cert(s), automatically.
If you got a user ID and password, but your browser can't access the site, 99% of the time you are using AOL or another third party ISP that has their own browser and doesn't really see the "whole" internet. You can beat this problem by using the WHOLE address including http and ending slash. If not, you can sign in using AOL or your ISP, close their browser and open IE or Netscape, and you will then see the course site. Use the user ID and password that came with your enrollment email!
Your cert is for life and never requires renewal. If you got a free year's membership in your trade's association (needed for bonding, insurance, trade recognition and city licensure in some trades), you may have to renew that after a year. If you ordered a badge or ID, it can take several weeks to process your order, validate your membership, coordinate your picture with your ID, etc. Bodyguards, Locksmiths, Gunsmiths, Reloaders, Bladesmiths, Police Instructors, Combat Instructors and many others qualify for police quality ID badges, but we have to verify your ID before approving!
You will not always hear where you are in the process right away, because there is a lot of research, and many partners, trade vendors and associations to coordinate on this end. Be assured that you are in the process and making progress even if you did not hear at every step. Many soldiers in Iraq are taking courses on weekends and evenings. There is no deadline for completion, but you WILL be grandfathered for your cert in a timely manner from the date you enrolled.
If you got your cert before you returned your exam due to ship link expiration or grandfathering deadlines, it will be valid as soon as you return your exam(s).
