Credentialing
You have made one of the wisest choices in your career and new business launch by going with PSU! Unlike many other online programs, PSU's credentialing programs are designed for the REAL WORLD, with the licenses and credentials you need to be successful both professionally and financially. This is possible due to the hundreds of industry and association partnerships we've set up over more than three decades.
Trade credentialing is much different than traditional university credentialing. When you receive your PSU cert, unlike any other online program, it is only the first step in the benefits you receive. Because entrepreneurs and trade pros need many additional credentials and business leads for professional acceptance, PSU INCLUDES that process with every cert we send. These include Association Membership, City/ State and sometimes Federal licensure; Bonding; Trade acceptance; Wholesale Accounts; Network/ dealer membership; Customer referrals and outplacement; Cert Validation; Badges and ID's; additional CEU classes and credits; tools, equipment and supplies, Post Certification, and much more.
The first step is to choose your course/ package correctly so you get maximum benefits-- the package programs are the most robust in this regard. Next, complete your exam(s) and receive your cert, so your date is grandfathered against any industry changes. Depending on your type of program and package level, you also receive association membership, trade references, wholesale accounts, and inexpensive professional Bonding via the relationships we've set up with the associations. For City and many State licenses, all you will need is your PSU cert, your (usually free or inexpensive) State tax ID, a Federal EIN (free from the IRS), and if you want to protect your assets, set up an LLC at LegalZoom, and get a bank account under your new LLC name (you'll need to show the bank your incorporation document). Your PSU certificate, Association certificate, Bond and badge or ID is all you need to get licensure in most States. Here is only one example:
John is a Bladesmithing grad. After receiving his Master Bladesmith certification from PSU, we got him a free year's membership in the AABLA association. He then received an inexpensive $50,000 bond through AABLA (or, with his PSU Cert, could have received a $20,000 bond through LL or other association as a locksmith, gunsmith, reloader, bodyguard, firearms instructor, etc.). With our trade references, he joined LL, began to purchase tools, equipment and supplies wholesale, and used the invoice copies to become nationally registered.
His State did not require a separate locksmith/ gunsmith or bladesmith exam (as most don't), but for those who do, we offer the best exam guides available (2009 editions) which cover ALL the States with separate exams (most don't require them), at a deep discount from retail, due to his PSU certs. During his launch, PSU listed him on the blade artists site, got him accepted with all the wholesale trade suppliers, promoted his inventory with free ecommerce and auction sites, and added him to the referral network.
If you are a gunsmith, locksmith, reloader, pet care provider, pastoral counselor, medical biller, wellness counselor, mortgage counselor, career counselor, firearms instructor, bodyguard, and hundreds of other professional fields supported by PSU, the process is similar-- each cert includes the network for referrals, association membership, bonding, licensure, credentialing and the certifications you need to be successful-- but then go much farther in adding you to the referral networks, trade and wholesale acceptance, and grandfathering your credentials against any changes in government regulation of your industry.
Congratulations on taking this giant step toward success! Please be patient if you've received your cert or sent in your exam and have not yet heard back-- it takes time to get you wired up with the associations, bonding underwriters, trade accounts, networks, etc. These are unique benefits, but do take more time and work than just stopping with your cert! If you ordered a professional badge or ID or combination of these after getting your cert(s), some of these are custom and come from the association and can take a few weeks to complete-- again, please be patient, as your credentials ARE grandfathered from your enrollment date even if it takes a little extra time to fully wire you up with the rest of the process!
